The British Music Hall Society has been championing the cause of the history of popular entertainment since 1963. Without Victorian Music Hall there’d be no “Britain’s Got Talent”. We are here to make sure that nobody forgets where we came from!
The Society was devastated to hear the news of the sudden death of our President, Paul O’Grady, on 28th March 2023.
Paul had been our President since 2020 and had been a great supporter of our Society attending last year’s Day by the Sea in Eastbourne, the lunch in honour of Vice President, Wyn Calvin MBE and the unveiling of the plaque for Fred Barnes in 2021. Last year he attended the commemoration service for Marie Lloyd.
Paul was a warm, kind and generous man who will be sadly missed not only by his family and personal friends but by many from the world of show business and his thousands of fans.
We were extremely lucky that Paul agreed to become our President and our thoughts are with his husband, Andre and Paul’s family at this sad time.
Rest in peace Paul and thanks for all the joy and laughter you gave to so many. You will be missed greatly.
